Good Samaritan stabbed, two others struck by vehicle during chaotic scene on 635 in Dallas

On August 6, 2024, at about 7:05 AM, Dallas police responded to an accident call at westbound 635 (LBJ Freeway) at Forest Lane. 

The preliminary investigation determined a suspect driver was involved in a multi-vehicle accident and started fighting one of the involved drivers. 

Another driver tried to stop the fight but was stabbed by the suspect.

A TXDOT employee saw the accident and stopped to assist. 

The suspect entered the TXDOT vehicle, hit the employee, and crashed.

Another driver saw the TXDOT employee get hit and stopped to provide aid. The suspect then entered that vehicle and hit that driver. 

When the suspect exited the vehicle, several good Samaritans were able to hold the suspect down until officers arrived.

The suspect was arrested, and charges are pending. The suspect will not be identified until he is formally charged.

Dallas Fire Rescue responded and transported the three victims. 

The driver stabbed is in critical condition and the other two are stable. 

The suspect was also transported by DFR to a local hospital as a precaution.

The suspect, identified as Angel Zamora Moreno, 26, is charged with seven counts of Aggravated Assault, two counts of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and one count of Criminal Mischief.

Two shot during disturbance involving multiple homeless people, Fort Worth police say

On Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, at 4:44am, Fort Worth PD responded to a shooting call in the area of a homeless camp at E Vickery Blvd and S Riverside Drive.

Officers arrived to find two victims with gunshot wounds. The victims were rushed to an area hospital for their injuries, both in stable condition.

It is believed that this was the result of a disturbance between several homeless individuals. 

The suspect is currently not in custody.

Dallas PD officer hits pedestrian in roadway

On August 5, 2024, at 7:07 p.m., Dallas Police were called to an auto pedestrian crash in the 8700 block of Elam Road.

The preliminary investigation determined a Dallas Police Officer in a marked squad car was travelling east on Elam Road to a call without lights and sirens activated. A female pedestrian was standing in the median and ran in front of two vehicles trying to turn left onto Cedarcliff Drive, and into the far-left lane where the officer was driving. The woman was hit by the squad car.

The officer stopped and first aid was administered at the scene.

The woman was taken to a local hospital and is in critical condition.

The officer was not injured.

Three shot, suspect on the run after shooting at Sneaky Pete’s in Lewisville

At approximately 10 p.m., on Sunday, Aug. 4, Lewisville dispatch and Denton County dispatch received multiple calls about a shooting incident at Sneaky Pete’s near the intersection of Eagle Point Drive and Marina Bay.

Three people were shot after a verbal altercation between two individuals turned physical. Two victims were treated at local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries and the third victim declined medical assistance.

Detectives have determined this is an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public.

The suspect left the scene before officers arrived, and a physical description is too vague to release at this time.

Driver killed in Mansfield crash

On Saturday, August 3, at approximately 3:51am, Mansfield Police Department Officers and Fire Rescue personnel were dispatched to the 2300 block of Newt Patterson Road in reference to a single-vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, Mansfield officers observed the vehicle was off the road and engulfed in flames. The Rendon Fire Department and Mansfield Fire Department responded to extinguish the fire. Once the vehicle was extinguished, it was discovered that the vehicle was occupied by the driver, who was pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified by family as a 27-year-old man.

Suspect arrested after pursuit, standoff in North Richland Hills

On August 3, 2024, at approximately 12:04pm, North Richland Hills Police Department responded to a family disturbance in the 7900 block of Harwood in which the suspect was reported to be actively assaulting the victim. As officers arrived, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, at which point, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

The vehicle fled, but was quickly disabled after striking a responding police vehicle. The driver of the vehicle refused to exit and given the suspect’s display of aggression, the decision was made to activate the North Richland Hills SWAT to safely resolve the situation.

After establishing control of the scene, the male suspect was safely removed from the vehicle and taken into custody.

Motorcyclist killed in Denton County crash

On Friday, August 2, at approximately 11:28pm, multiple emergency responders were dispatched to a major accident involving a motorcycle in the westbound lanes of Highway 114 at Winding Meadows Drive.

DPS Troopers say a motorcyclist was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when he struck the back of a vehicle sitting at the red light.

The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as a 21-year-old man from Justin.

The two occupants inside the vehicle were not hurt.
