One killed, suspect arrested following Waxahachie shooting

On Saturday, August 17, 2024, during the early morning hours, the Waxahachie Police Department responded to a shots fired call in the area of East Criddle Street. Multiple callers in the area reported hearing several gunshots followed by screeching tires.

A short while later, officers were dispatched to a welfare check in the same area. When officers arrived, they found the victim of an apparent shooting. A 24-year-old male resident of Waxahachie was found with a gunshot wound to his chest in the 200 block of East Criddle Street.

Responding personnel from both the WPD and Waxahachie Fire-Rescue Department attempted life-saving measures. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

WPD’s Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Unit promptly responded to begin investigating the crime and collecting evidence. During their investigation, detectives obtained information to secure an arrest warrant for the sole suspect, 28-year-old Wilfredo Ramos. The Southern Regional Response Group was notified to assist in apprehending the suspect.

At 4:35 p.m., Ramos surrendered by exiting his home in the 100 block of Butler Lane and was detained by officers and detectives of the WPD. Ramos was booked into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center and charged with murder.

Two killed in shooting near Fort Worth Stockyards

At around 2:00AM this morning, Fort Worth Fire and Police along with Medstar EMS responded to a shooting in the 2400 block of Ross Avenue.

Detectives have determined that a verbal argument broke out between several individuals at the home, and one of the individuals pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots.

Two people were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. No arrests have been made.

The incident remains under investigation.

Three injured in shooting, house fire at east Arlington home

At around 5:45pm this evening, Arlington Police, Fire, and EMS responded to a home in the 800 block of Connolly Terrace to investigate a report of shots fired.

While officers were en route to the scene, they also received information that the home was on fire.

When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult woman at a neighbor’s house who appeared to have been grazed by a bullet. She was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The officers also located the suspect, an adult male, near the burning home. While pulling him to safety, an officer sustained minor burns. That officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He will be OK.

The suspect also sustained burn injuries and was transported to an area hospital. His condition was not released.

Arlington firefighters quickly controlled the fire, but the house sustained major damage.

The investigation is ongoing.

Johnson County Sheriff’s deputy shot while arresting pursuit suspect

On Sunday, August 11, at approximately 9:30 PM, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office assisted Tarrant County Deputies who were pursuing a vehicle into Johnson County. The vehicle’s occupants exited the vehicle and fled into a house near Mansfield in Johnson County.

The Deputies made entry into the residence to arrest the driver. During the arrest, Johnson County Deputy Austin Reed was shot in the hip while attempting to subdue a resisting suspect.

Deputy Reed was transported to the hospital and treated for the non life threatening wound. He is expected to make a full recovery.

The Texas Rangers took control of the crime scene and will be conducting the investigation.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and the occupants were detained and transported to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Update: Fort Worth officer dies after being struck by vehicle

The following is the full Press Release from the Fort Worth Police Department:

The Fort Worth Police Department is grieving the loss of an officer who died in the line of duty on the morning of August 12, 2024.

Sgt. Billy Randolph, #2797 died this morning while working an accident scene.

He was working a motor vehicle accident on I-35 Southbound near Sycamore School Road. During the course of the cleanup and investigation, Sgt. Randolph was standing outside his vehicle when a vehicle drove through the accident scene and struck him. The driver of that vehicle is in police custody.

Randolph was taken to an area hospital for medical treatment where he died from his injuries. The details of this investigation are preliminary.

Billy was a father, husband, brother, son and friend.

The Fort Worth Police Department asks everyone to keep the family and friends of Sgt. Randolph in their prayers along with our Fort Worth PD family.

Sgt. Randolph served the community of the City of Fort Worth with the Fort Worth Police Department for 29 years, last assigned to South Patrol.

More details will be released when they become available.  

A media staging area is set up at JPS Hospital at the pavilion garden where the news conference will be held at approximately 10 a.m. Parking is available along St. Joseph Court. 

The procession from JPS Hospital to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Officer will begin at 11 a.m.

ORIGINAL INFORMATION:

18-Wheeler Fire (Fort Worth) Around 2:30am this morning a tractor-trailer hit a wall exiting South Freeway (I35W) SB at Sycamore School Road. The driver received minor injuries and the truck caught fire and spilled fuel. The entire SB freeway and service road was shut down.

At around 5:38am, a vehicle came through the accident scene and struck an Officer. The Officer has been transported to an area hospital. The SB freeway will be shut down for some time in order to clean up the original accident and for the ensuing investigation where the Officer was struck.

Street racer collides with vehicle, kills four people in Grand Prairie

At around 8:00pm on Saturday evening, Grand Prairie Police and Fire responded to a major accident in the 1500 block of S. Belt Line Road near Marshall Drive.

When crews arrived, they located two vehicles with major damage and one on fire.

Four people, all related, were killed in the crash: two adults and two children. A third child was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Grand Prairie PD will be releasing more information soon.

Man’s body recovered after drowning at Lake Ray Roberts

At around 6:00pm on Saturday evening, Pilot Point Fire and Police, Lewisville Fire Dive Team, and Texas Game Wardens responded to a man struggling in the water at Lake Ray Roberts.

Emergency crews determined the man was last seen in the water near Isle du Bois park.

Authorities recovered the body of the 20-year-old man at around 8pm.

The incident remains under investigation.

Joshua man killed in Johnson County crash

At around 8:30pm on Saturday evening, Johnson County Fire Station 83, AMR, and multiple law enforcement were dispatched to a major accident in the 5400 block of County Road 915.

Emergency personnel arrived to find at least two people injured in a vehicle collision.

A 20-year-old man from Joshua was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Another individual was airlifted to JPS in unknown condition.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

One person killed in crash involving Garland city dump truck

On August 10, at approximately 12:45 pm, Garland Police and Fire responded to a two vehicle crash in the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road and Firewheel Parkway.

Officers arrived and discovered that a minivan and a city of Garland vehicle had collided in the intersection.

The minivan was occupied by two women. One was transported to the hospital, while the other was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the city occupied vehicle was not injured.

This is an ongoing investigation, and the identities of those involved are not being released at this time.

Updates: Tarrant County Sheriff’s deputy shot, ongoing standoff with armed suspect

At around 12:15pm, a Tarrant County Sheriff’s deputy was shot while serving a warrant in the 2900 block of Elinor Street in Fort Worth.

The deputy was transported to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds. According to Tarrant County Judge O’Hare, the deputy’s injuries are not life threatening.

An official with Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office says the deputy was grazed on the head, and shot in the arm and thigh. Sheriff Bill Waybourn says the deputy is conscious and speaking with family.

There is an ongoing standoff with the heavily armed suspect at the home on Elinor Street. As a result, NE 28th Street is blocked off near N. Beach Street due to the heavy law enforcement activity. SWAT teams are on scene.

The suspect is a 40-year-old male. Deputies were serving a warrant involving three felony charges, all related to sexual crimes against a child.

Heavy police activity can be expected at JPS Hospital as officers visit the injured deputy.

Updates will be limited due to the ongoing situation, but check back for updates in the near future.

Update – Suspect is in police custody, he is injured. Smoke is showing from the residence. Fort Worth FD has moved up to control the fire. Scene is secure.

UPDATE – Standoff has concluded with the suspect in custody. Suspect is also shot and being transported in grave condition.
