Update: Trooper remains in critical condition following crash in Dallas

On December 16, 2024, at approximately 12:30 AM, Texas Highway Patrol Trooper Austin Parrott was dispatched to a one-vehicle crash on the Dallas North Tollway in Dallas County.  

Trooper Parrott responded and arrived on the scene at approximately 12:40 AM.  After arriving on the scene, Trooper Parrott positioned himself outside his unit and began conversing with a bystander, attempting to assist with traffic direction.  

At approximately 12:41 AM, a passenger vehicle driven by Talha Noaman, a 20-year-old male, approached them from behind and struck Trooper Parrott, the bystander, and the patrol unit as they stood on the shoulder.

Emergency medical personnel performed CPR on Trooper Parrott roadside and transported him to the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano. Trooper Parrott sustained severe head trauma and is currently in the ICU, listed under stable but critical condition.  

The bystander was also transported to the hospital but later released with minor injuries.  

The driver of the passenger vehicle was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and booked into the Collin County Jail.
