UPDATE: Road rage causes fatal crash along I20 near Weatherford

At around 8:51am this morning, Weatherford Fire Department, DPS Troopers, and Parker County Hospital District EMS were dispatched to a major accident involving an overturned vehicle in the westbound lanes of Interstate 20 just before Center Point Road.

When emergency responders arrived on the scene, they observed three individuals ejected from the overturned vehicle. One of the individuals, a 33-year-old, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A total of three others were transported from the scene to a Fort Worth hospital.

DPS investigators say an SUV, occupied by four people, entered the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 directly into the left lane in front of a second vehicle, a grey Jeep. The driver of the Jeep then sped around the SUV, veered back into the left lane, and suddenly decelerated. In an effect to avoid a collision, the driver of the SUV swerved, lost control, and flipped over into the westbound lanes of traffic, ejecting three of the occupants.

Witnesses said the driver of the grey Jeep got out of his car and saw the injured people, but fled the scene.

Troopers are investigating this accident as a road rage.
