Fire damages new Richland High School building in Prosper
At 2:32am this morning, multiple Prosper Fire Rescue units were dispatched to the new Richland High School campus for report of a structure fire. The location is at 3450 Prairie Drive.
Battalion 1, Engine 1, Engine 11, Medic 1, Engine 3, Medic 2, Quint 2 responded to the scene with assistance from Frisco FD. Battalion 1 arrived to find a two-story large high school with heavy fire showing from the roof, and declared a working fire.
During the early stages of the incident, one firefighter sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. He has since been released from the hospital.
“Although the damage appears to be contained to the exterior of the building, we are working closely with fire officials to assess the damage to the construction site,” says Prosper ISD in an email to parents.
The school is currently under construction with an expected open date of August 2025. ISD officials will report if the construction will be delayed due to this fire.
