UPDATE: Red light runner causes fatal crash in Grapevine

The Grapevine Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred this morning along northbound William D. Tate Ave (121 service road) at the Hall-Johnson Road intersection.

According to officials, emergency responders were called to the scene around 9:50AM this morning. Investigators say a sedan was traveling west on Hall-Johnson Road when a coupe traveling northbound ran the red light and impacted the sedan. The impact caused the sedan to flip. The coupe came to rest down William D. Tate from the crash site.

A passenger in the sedan was critically injured at the scene. CPR was administered at the scene and while en route to the hospital, but her injuries were too severe. She was pronounced deceased at Baylor Grapevine at 10:22AM. She has been identified as a 51-year-old woman from Irving.

The condition of the driver in the other vehicle has not been released. Investigators are speaking with the driver of the coupe, although no charges have been filed at this time.

The northbound William D. Tate Ave (121 service road) lanes were closed for approximately 5 hours while police investigated the scene.
