Fort Worth firefighters rescue child from burning apartment

Today around 2PM, the Fort Worth Fire Department was called to a fire at The Park at Bellevue apartments, 9700 Brian Way Circle. One of the 9-1-1 callers reported that a child was trapped in the back bedroom.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire showing from one of the units.

Quint 23 and Engine 23, housed about a mile away, were first on scene. Engine 23 battling back the flames while Quint 23 went inside the apartment to conduct a search.

Quint 23 located and rescued the child from the burning apartment. MedStar EMS was called to the scene and transported the child to Cook Children’s hospital with serious injuries. The condition of the child has not been released at this time.

The fire was placed under control within 15 minutes. Only one unit was involved in the fire.

The cause is under investigation.

UPDATE: Driver of speeding vehicle killed in Wise County crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatality accident that occurred last night on FM 51 in Wise County.

At around 8:45PM on Saturday night, Greenwood-Slidell volunteer firefighters, Wise County EMS paramedics, and several law enforcement officers from Wise County and DPS were called to a crash on FM 51 about 5 miles northeast of Decatur. One vehicle had reportedly crashed off the roadway with possible ejection.

Emergency responders found one vehicle off the roadway and in a gulley. The driver, who was the sole occupant, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators say the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash. She has been identified as a 34-year-old woman.

Lanes of FM 51 were shut down in the area while police investigated the scene.

Funeral escort motorcyclist critically injured in crash with vehicle near White Rock Lake

The Dallas Police Department is investigating a motorcycle accident involving a private motorcycle escort service working a funeral procession.

At around 12:45PM this afternoon, a motorcyclist was escorting a funeral procession along Garland Road near Buckner Road when he collided with a vehicle, which was attempting to cross the procession. Officials say the driver had been waved on to cross by a driver in the procession, not knowing the motorcyclist was passing the line of cars on right.

The motorcyclist was ejected and hit a tree.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the scene and transported him to a local hospital in critical condition. CPR was observed by witnesses at the scene. He has been identified as a 42-year-old man.

The investigation is ongoing. It is unknown if any charges will be filed.

Armed sexual assault suspect arrested after barricading himself in Plano house

The Plano Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance last night at a house in the 8100 block of Haning Drive. As officers arrived, they were flagged down by a woman, who stated a sexual assault had occurred.

The suspect had barricaded himself in the house and refused to exit. The victim told police he was armed with a gun.

Plano PD’s SWAT team was notified to assist.

After a long negotiation, the suspect was taken into custody by SWAT officers.

He has been identified as a 43-year-old resident of Plano, charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault.

19-year-old killed while “hanging out” in Fort Worth neighborhood, police say

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred earlier this morning in a west side neighborhood.

Around 6:00AM, emergency responders were called to a shooting in the 4100 block of Valentine Street.

One person was found to be shot. He was subsequently transported to Texas Health Harris Hospital by MedStar EMS. The victim did not survive his injuries. He has been identified as a 19-year-old man who lived at the incident location.

Detectives believe he was “hanging out in the street” when the shooting happened.

Police have not released any information regarding the suspect(s).

The homicide unit is investigating the scene.

Two people killed in wrong-way driver crash along 635 in Farmers Branch

The Farmers Branch Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred earlier this morning in the eastbound lanes of 635 (LBJ Freeway) near Luna Road.

At around 1:30AM this morning, police received calls of a wrong-way driver headed west in the eastbound lanes of LBJ in the area of Webb Chapel Road. Multiple police responded to the scene, and located a major crash.

Farmers Branch Police and Fire/EMS all responded to the scene.

One of the vehicles reportedly caught fire. Two people were killed in the crash.

Specific details regarding the crash have not yet been released by officials. When and if additional information is released, we will update here.

Major delays on I35E in Carrollton due to overturned cement truck

Multiple emergency responders are on scene of a major accident along northbound I35E near PGBT in the Carrollton area.

A cement truck overturned and landed in the right median off the roadway. The driver is being evaluated for minor injuries only.

Dallas Fire-Rescue, Police, DPS Troopers, and NTTA are all on scene.

Carrollton PD says all northbound lanes are temporarily blocked, but at least one lane should be open soon.

It is best to avoid this area.

Emergency responders working bus rollover along I35W in Fort Worth

Multiple emergency responders from Fort Worth FD, PD, Saginaw FD, and MedStar EMS are working a major accident involving an overturned bus along northbound I35W near Tarrant Parkway.

Engine 9 reports only one person on the bus. No one trapped inside. EMS is assessing injuries at this time.

Expect a closure of northbound I35W soon due to this crash. Avoid the area.

UPDATE: MedStar reports only one person injured.

Dump truck hits vehicle, kills driver near Waxahachie

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatality accident involving an SUV and a dump truck that occurred around 7:30AM this morning outside of Waxahachie.

Multiple emergency responders were called to the scene on FM 55 at Tees Road south of the Avalon community in rural Ellis County.

Troopers say an SUV was driving south on FM 55 when the driver slowed to make a left turn onto Tees Road. A dump truck, which was driving behind the SUV, did not slow and was forced to veer left in an attempt to avoid the vehicle. The dump truck collided with the driver’s side of the SUV.

The driver of the SUV, a 38-year-old man, was killed in the crash. He lived on Tees Road not far from the accident scene.

The driver of the dump truck was transported by private vehicle to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Lanes of FM 55 were closed for several hours while crews cleared up the accident scene.

Security guard robbed and killed while servicing ATM at Dallas credit union

The Dallas Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a security guard at a credit union just before 9AM this morning.

Officials say the man was servicing an ATM at a credit union in the 1500 block of Cockrell Hill Road when a suspect, armed with a rifle, walked up and demanded money.

During the robbery, the suspect shot the security guard, and was seen running away with duffle bags.

Dallas Fire Rescue transported the security guard to a local hospital, but he was pronounced deceased.

Police say there was a second security guard there who was armed. His involvement in the situation was not disclosed.
