Two men killed in Fort Worth shooting

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred late Monday night at the Valley at Cobb Park apartments, 1701 E. Robert Street, in southeast Fort Worth.

Late last night, Fort Worth police officers were called to the apartments after 9-1-1 calls came in regarding a shooting.

Officers found two men had been shot in the incident. One of the victims was pronounced deceased at the scene and the other was transported to a local hospital, but pronounced deceased at the facility.

Police detained a man who stated he was responsible for shooting the two men. That individual is cooperating with authorities, but police say no arrests have been made.

The incident remains under investigation.

North Texas crossing guard fatally struck by vehicle near elementary school

The Fate Department of Public Safety (Rockwall County) is investigating a fatality accident involving a crossing guard that occurred earlier this morning.

At around 7:30am, multiple emergency responders were called to the area of Miss May Drive near Miss May Vernon Elementary School (Royse City ISD) after a person was struck by a vehicle.

Authorities say a driver possibly suffered from a medical episode while driving, causing them to hit the crossing guard and another vehicle.

The crossing guard was transported to a nearby hospital, but pronounced deceased. Police did not release the condition of the driver involved.

The scene is still under investigation with the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Department’s, Accident Reconstruction Specialist Team.

Pregnant woman and baby killed in Fort Worth crash

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred earlier today on southbound East Loop 820 at 287.

At 12:42pm, emergency responders were called to the scene after a vehicle overturned and one person was possibly ejected.

Medstar paramedics found a critically injured pregnant female and quickly transported her to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Medical personnel performed an emergency surgery in an attempt to save both the mother and the child, but unfortunately her injuries were too severe. Both the woman and her child were no pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Fort Worth’s traffic investigations unit is working the crash investigation.

Man struck, killed on I35W in Fort Worth

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred overnight along the southbound lanes of Interstate 35W near Rosedale Street.

Emergency responders were called to the scene at 2:20am this morning after a passerby reported a body in the roadway.

Police believe an accident occurred on the highway and the driver was struck and killed by a passing vehicle after exiting his car.

The adult male driver was pronounced deceased on the scene.

All southbound lanes of Interstate 35W were closed for approximately three (3) hours while FWPD investigated the scene.

I-30 closed in Fort Worth due to two major crashes

The Fort Worth Police Department has reopened the eastbound lanes of Interstate 30, but westbound lanes remain closed near Camp Bowie Blvd due to an earlier crash involving a semi truck.

At around 12:50am, multiple emergency responders were dispatched to lanes of Interstate 30 near Bryant Irvin for a major accident involving an 18-wheeler and a motorcycle.

Police say the 18-wheeler ended up on its side in the westbound lanes after the collision occurred in the eastbound lanes. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on the scene.

While working the scene, an 18-wheeler collided with two FWPD police vehicles in the eastbound lanes, forcing the closure of that direction as well. No officers were injured.

As of 7:45am, westbound lanes are closed and eastbound lanes are open.

Body recovered from Trinity River near Fort Worth’s Botanical Gardens

At around 4:00pm this afternoon, Fort Worth FD and PD along with MedStar EMS all responded to a possible drowning near Fort Worth’s Trinity Park and Botanical Gardens.

Officials say a train conductor spotted the body as the train went over the Trinity River trestle bridge near Forest Park Blvd and Parkview Drive.

Fort Worth FD’s Dive Team was called to assist in the recovery. The victim has been identified as a man in his 30’s.

The incident remains under investigation.

UPDATES: Two pilots ejected, hurt before military jet crashes into Lake Worth neighborhood

Several local and national agencies are currently investigating a fiery crash involving a military jet that occurred earlier this morning in Lake Worth.

At around 10:53am this morning, authorities received several 9-1-1 calls regarding an aircraft crash in the 4000 block of Tejas Trail. Lake Worth police and fire units quickly responded to the scene and observed heavy smoke in the area.

The two pilots were ejected from the jet, One of them was located in front of the Ole Donut store at 7000 Lake Worth Blvd after their parachute got tangled in power lines. The second pilot was found in the neighborhood not far from the crash site. A CareFlite helicopter airlifted one of the pilots to Parkland Hospital for burns and injuries sustained in the crash. Their conditions have not been released, but first responders initially triaged one pilot as critical/life-threatening and the other as serious.

The Chief of Naval Air Training (CNATRA) has identified the plane as a Navy T-45C Goshawk jet trainer aircraft assigned to the Training Air Wing 2 at Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas. They also say the student naval aviator was hurt worse than the instructor pilot. The pilots were conducting a routine training flight that originated in Corpus Christi. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.

A total of three homes were damaged by debris from the downed plane. The jet itself landed in the backyard of a residence and did not impact any of the homes. Fortunately, no one was injured in the homes or on the ground. Red Cross is assisting displaced residents.

MedStar EMS, Lockheed Martin FD, Saginaw FD, NAS JRB FD, Forth Worth FD, Fort Worth PD, Tarrant County constables, Tarrant County emergency management, and others all responded to the scene.

The crash scene is located within a “potential crash zone” as identified as the military. Lake Worth FD trains for emergencies like this one.

Lake Worth PD is asking residents who may have located damage or debris to call their non-emergency line at 817-237-1224.

The investigation will be extensive and may take place through tomorrow, officials say.

Six people shot after large shootout in Deep Ellum

The Dallas Police Department is investigating a homicide and aggravated assault incident that occurred overnight in the Deep Ellum area of Dallas.

At 12:42am this morning, Dallas police officers working in the area of Malcolm X. Blvd and Main Street heard several gunshots in the vicinity and went to check it out.

Shortly thereafter, the officers observed an armed 18-year-old man and ordered him to drop the weapon. He dropped the weapon and ran away, but officers were able to catch up and arrest him.

Additional responding officers located a crime scene in the area and found that a large number of armed people had engaged in a shootout, injuring several people.

A total of six people were shot: two men (18-year-old and 19-year-old) and four women (ages 30, 25, 21, and 15). The two men were transported to area hospitals where the 18-year-old was pronounced deceased. The 19-year-old is in critical condition. The four women were transported to area hospitals, but all sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police are still working to determine if any shots fired by the arrested suspect were responsible for the incident. He has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon and Evading Arrest while the investigation takes place.

Wrong way driver severely hurt in Denton County crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a serious crash that occurred Saturday night along Highway 114 in Denton County.

At 10:09pm, several agencies including the Justin Fire Department and DPS troopers were called to the westbound lanes of Highway 114 near Ben Bert Road, approximately two miles west of FM 156.

Authorities say a 50-year-old man was driving the wrong direction in the westbound lanes of the highway when he caused a crash that involved four vehicles.

A PHI air ambulance was called to the scene and airlifted the wrong way driver to Medical City Denton with severe injuries. Another driver involved in the crash was transported by ambulance to a hospital for treatment. No one else was seriously hurt.

Westbound 114 was closed for a few hours while troopers investigated the scene. The crash has since been cleared.

Intoxicated driver arrested following crash that killed passenger near downtown Dallas

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatality accident that occurred Friday night along Interstate 345 / US-75 at Ross Avenue in the downtown Dallas area.

At around 10:54pm last night, multiple emergency responders from the Dallas Fire Rescue and DSO responded to the scene on the southbound side of Central Expressway.

Deputies determined the driver of an SUV rear-ended an 18-wheeler. Paramedics provided medical attention to three (3) victims inside the SUV and transported them to area hospitals for further treatment. The front passenger was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. She has been identified as a 29-year-old woman.

The driver, a 21-year-old woman, was found to be intoxicated at the time of the crash. She has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter. She was one of the injured persons transported to the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
