NEW: Intoxicated driver flown to hospital following head-on crash in Johnson County

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a serious crash that occurred last Friday night, November 12th.
At around 8:21pm, several fire departments from Johnson County, AMR, and multiple law enforcement all responded to a multi-vehicle crash with entrapment on E. FM 917 near County Road 616 in the Lillian area.
First arriving responders located two vehicles involved with major damage. A preliminary investigation of the scene reveals the driver of an eastbound pickup truck clipped the back left of a semi truck traveling westbound, causing the pickup truck to then collide head-on with an SUV behind the semi truck.
The driver of the pickup truck was extricated by firefighters and transported by CareFlite air ambulance to JPS with serious injuries. Authorities took a blood draw from the driver at the hospital and they are awaiting results. Police have charged the 49-year-old man with Driving While Intoxicated – 2nd Offense.
The driver and passenger of the SUV were transported to Mansfield Methodist hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
