Mansfield police looking for driver who struck woman after she fell out of vehicle along FM 917
On June 23, 2024, at approximately 1:14 a.m. Mansfield officers were dispatched to approximately the 800 block of FM 917 in reference to a major accident.
Dispatch advised the 911 caller was the mother of the victim. The 911 caller stated she was driving her 21-year-old daughter home due to her daughter possibly being too intoxicated to drive herself. She stated they was traveling on FM 917 when her daughter fell out of the vehicle and may have been struck by at least one vehicle from the traffic in the lane behind her. She also stated there were other vehicles on the roadway directly behind her, so she did not immediately stop, but later turned around and made her way back to where her daughter fell out of the car.
Upon arrival, Mansfield officers observed the victim was unconscious, but breathing with what appeared to be major injuries. Mansfield Officers and Fire/EMS conducted life-saving efforts. The victim was ultimately transported via CareFlite to a Fort Worth trauma center.
The Mansfield PD Accident Investigations unit responded to the scene to further investigate.
No arrests were made on the scene.
As of 6:30 a.m. the victim was in stable condition, receiving ongoing care for her injuries.
The investigation is ongoing. If anyone witnessed this accident, please contact Ofc. Casey Knowles at casey.knowles@mansfieldtexas.gov.
