UPDATE: Carrollton Police arrest teenager who claimed to be spreading Coronavirus

The Carrollton Police Department has arrested 18-year-old Lorraine Maradiaga, who was wanted for posting a series of Snapchat videos purportedly infesting shoppers at a local Walmart.

On Sunday, Carrollton PD said they were attempting to locate her after the discovery of the Snapchat videos. The series included references to receiving a positive COVID-19 test, and later showed her at a Walmart store claiming that she was “infesting every [expletive] here.”

She has been charged with a Terrorist Threat. This is a 3rd-degree felony.

Contrary to her Snapchat videos, “Maradiaga has stated that she is COVID-19 negative,” say police. “We currently have no proof that Maradiaga has tested positive.”

Her bond has been set at $20,000. She has been ordered to quarantine for 21 days upon date of release from custody as a precaution.

Officials urging people to stay at home after 5 more COVID-19 deaths reported in Tarrant County

The Tarrant County Public Health Department is urging residents to follow the “stay at home” orders after five (5) deaths related to the Coronavirus have been reported today.

Two of the five residents lived in Fort Worth. The others lived in River Oaks, Haltom City, and Grand Prairie. Their ages ranged from 47 to 88, all of whom were hospitalized locally. Two of the patients had underlying health conditions.

These new deaths bring the total death count in Tarrant County to 18.

Officials remind residents that the Stay at Home orders are still in effect. All activities conducted outside of your residence should be for essential purposes only. If you go to the grocery store, maintain social distancing and wear a mask or shield that blocks your mouth and nose.

“Based on all the reports we are seeing, we could very well be about to see a spike in COVID-19 activity in our county,” said Tarrant County Public Health Director Vinny Taneja.

“We can get through this, but only if everyone does their part and follows the guidelines without exception.”

[UPDATED] Carrollton PD charging teenager with Terrorist Threat after she appeared in Snapchat video “infecting everyone” at Walmart

The Carrollton Police Department is looking for an 18-year-old female after she reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 and appeared in a Snapchat video intentionally infecting consumers at a local Walmart.

Police say Lorraine Maradiaga has been charged with a Terrorist Threat after a video surfaced of her at a local Walmart “infesting every mother****** here.” The video appeared in a Snapchat series of videos, which included a video of her reportedly receiving a test for COVID-19.

“We have no confirmation if Maradiaga is actually a threat to public health,” said Carrollton PD, after she claimed to be sick with the virus in her videos. “We are, however, taking her social media actions very seriously.”

“If I’m going down, all y’all [expletive] are going down!”

She then appeared in a video telling her followers that if they want the virus, to call her and she will come cough on them.

Although it is not confirmed that she actually has the virus, a video in her Snapchat series indicates a woman, possibly a healthcare worker asking her, “Now where are you going to go now?” She answered home.

Carrollton PD has not located her yet. If you know where she is, call (972) 466-3333 or CrimeTips@CityofCarrollton.com.

Several DFW-area emergency responders test positive for COVID-19, over a dozen in quarantine due to exposure

As many of us are tasked with simply staying home these days, our frontline emergency responders are not as lucky. They continue, unwaveringly, to answer 9-1-1 calls and respond appropriately, despite the threat of infection and exposure to the deadly COVID-19 Coronavirus disease.

Although we don’t – and may never – have the total numbers of DFW-area emergency responders who contract COVID-19, we do know that both Dallas and Fort Worth have personnel with confirmed cases of the disease.

As of March 31st, the Fort Worth Police Department says three (3) of their officers have tested positive. Luckily, all three are in self-isolation at home.

This morning, the Dallas Fire-Rescue Association says seven (7) members of their force have contracted the virus and a total of 50 are in quarantine.

Dallas Police Department’s latest numbers (as of April 2nd) indicate six (6) of their officers have tested positive.

The Plano Fire Department says two (2) of their firefighters have tested positive as well.

All departments across the DFW Metroplex, and certainly the country, are taking extra precautions when answering medical-related calls. Many of the 9-1-1 callers are asked questions as a pre-screening before they come into contact with fire and police. Many of the emergency responders now wear increased personal protective equipment to shield against any patient who has tested positive, or may be positive, for the virus.

The threat for community spread is listed as “substantial.” The CDC is now recommending the use of masks when conducting business or errands outside of the home.

The most effective way for you to keep yourself and others healthy is to STAY HOME. We all have a part to play in the health and safety of our community. This includes all our brave firefighters, paramedics, and police officers working around the clock to keep us safe!

SWAT incident successfully resolved in Euless

The Euless Police Department responded to a possible domestic disturbance situation at a home in the 1500 block of Aransas Drive around dinnertime this evening.

It was reported that a barricaded person was inside the residence along with a woman. Unofficial reports indicate the woman was a possible hostage in the event.

Euless PD requested the assistance of the regional SWAT team to assist with the apprehension of the suspect.

At 7:19PM, Euless PD posted on their Facebook page for residents in the area to stay inside their homes. “You may hear a loud speaker in use.”

The incident was resolved around 9PM after the male suspect was taken into custody without incident. The woman was also safely removed from the house. No one was injured.

Euless PD is still investigating the incident. There is no further information at this time.

Please note: DFW Scanner does not publish information regarding or related to ongoing police incidents, such as barricaded persons, SWAT incidents, or other sensitive events, until the incident has been resolved. We do this for officer safety reasons.
