Armed man shot, injured by Plano police officer in Dallas
The Dallas Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving a plain clothes Plano police officer.
According to Dallas PD, a Plano police officer was driving by a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Bonnie View Road and Tioga Street when he observed a man get out of one of the vehicles and retrieve a rifle from the back seat.
The Plano officer, who was in plain clothes at the time, stopped his vehicle and confronted the armed man. The officer identified himself as a cop and gave verbal commands to drop the weapon. The suspect did not do so and even pointed the rifle at the officer.
The officer fired at least one shot striking the suspect in the arm. The suspect fled, but was located in a nearby residential backyard. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Although this incident involved a Plano police officer, the Dallas Police Department will be handling the investigation since it occurred within their city limits.
