17-year-old in custody after Arlington murder

The Arlington Police Department was notified that an 18-year-old man who was critically injured in a recent shooting has died from his injuries. The case is now being investigated as a homicide.

On Monday June 24, 2024, at approximately 7:24 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Claire Court to investigate a reported shooting. 

When they arrived on scene, they found the 18-year-old man, as well as a 20-year-old man, with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to area hospitals. 

The 20-year-old’s injuries are non-life threatening. The 18-year-old was pronounced deceased on June 26, 2024.

Investigators believe both victims arranged to meet the suspected shooter in the neighborhood to engage in high-risk drug activity. Shortly after they arrived, the suspect pulled out a gun and began shooting at the vehicle the two victims were in at the time, striking both of them. The suspect then left the scene.

Following a thorough investigation, Homicide detectives identified the suspect as 17-year-old Joshua Nunn. They obtained warrants for his arrest on one count of Murder and one count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. 

Mr. Nunn turned himself in at the Tarrant County Jail this morning (Thursday, June 27, 2024). 

His bond has been set at $600,000.

Suspect arrested after killing 2 people at Irving Chick-fil-A

At around 4:00pm Wednesday afternoon, Irving Police Department responded to a shooting at the Chick-fil-A restaurant in the 5300 block of North MacArthur Blvd.

First arriving emergency personnel located two gunshot victims. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified one of the victims as a 49-year-old woman.

Shortly after the shooting, detectives identified Oved Bernardo Mendoza Argueta as the suspect. The 37-year-old was taken into custody around 2:50am and brought to Irving jail on capital murder charges.

According to his booking information, Immigration Customs and Enforcement officials have placed him on an immigration hold.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

UPDATE: Young woman fatally struck along I20; Arlington police searching for driver

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatality crash that resulted in the death of a 21-year-old woman.

On Sunday, June 23, 2024, at approximately 5:01 a.m., officers responded to the westbound lanes of I-20 near Matlock Road to investigate a reported hit-and-run. 

When they arrived, they found the woman lying unresponsive in the roadway. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Witnesses told investigators they saw a pickup truck driving erratically in the westbound lanes of I-20 just prior to the crash. They said the pickup eventually began driving on the shoulder. 

Investigators believe the victim had pulled over to the shoulder due to car trouble and was standing outside when the pickup collided with both her and her vehicle. 

The driver of the pickup did not stop and continued driving, crossing over the grassy median onto the I-20 frontage road. Officers later found the pickup abandoned in a shopping center parking lot not far from the crash scene. 

Investigators are currently working to identify and locate the driver of the pickup. At this time, no arrests have been made.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased once next of kin have been notified.  

Mansfield police looking for driver who struck woman after she fell out of vehicle along FM 917

On June 23, 2024, at approximately 1:14 a.m. Mansfield officers were dispatched to approximately the 800 block of FM 917 in reference to a major accident.

Dispatch advised the 911 caller was the mother of the victim. The 911 caller stated she was driving her 21-year-old daughter home due to her daughter possibly being too intoxicated to drive herself. She stated they was traveling on FM 917 when her daughter fell out of the vehicle and may have been struck by at least one vehicle from the traffic in the lane behind her. She also stated there were other vehicles on the roadway directly behind her, so she did not immediately stop, but later turned around and made her way back to where her daughter fell out of the car.

Upon arrival, Mansfield officers observed the victim was unconscious, but breathing with what appeared to be major injuries. Mansfield Officers and Fire/EMS conducted life-saving efforts. The victim was ultimately transported via CareFlite to a Fort Worth trauma center.

The Mansfield PD Accident Investigations unit responded to the scene to further investigate. 

No arrests were made on the scene.

As of 6:30 a.m. the victim was in stable condition, receiving ongoing care for her injuries.

Man fatally shot at south Fort Worth home

On Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 9:23 a.m., Fort Worth police officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of Meadow Ridge Dr. in reference to a shooting call.  Upon arrival, officers located an adult male shooting victim deceased in a bedroom.

Officers located a suspect nearby and took the suspect into custody. During the course of the investigation, detectives found that the suspect came into the bedroom as the victim and a witness were asleep and fired a weapon at the victim.

According to a witness, there was no altercation or argument prior to the suspect shooting the victim.

The suspect and victim are not related, but the victim is in a dating relationship with the witness who resides at the residence.

The suspect has been arrested at this time.

Update – The victim has been identified as a 40-year-old man.

Two dogs shot by Dallas officer after attacking civilian, attempting to attack officer

On Saturday morning at about 4:45 AM, Dallas Police responded to an animal attack in the 5100 block of Bexar Street.

The preliminary investigation determined the victim was bit by two dogs. Dallas Fire Rescue responded and transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

When officers met with the owner of the dogs, the dogs made an attempt to attack the officer. The officer shot both dogs and they died.

No officers were injured.

Intoxicated driver runs red light, kills innocent driver in Dallas

On Friday, at approximately 11:20 PM, Dallas Police and Fire Rescue responded to a crash in the 3500 block of Simpson Stuart and Bonnie View Road.

The preliminary investigation determined a driver was attempting to turn west onto Simpson Stuart from Bonnie View when they were hit by an eastbound driver, 28-year-old Jacob Arredondo, who had run a red light.

The driver of the first vehicle was taken to a local hospital and pronounced deceased.

Arredondo was arrested for Intoxication Manslaughter.

Woman killed in crash near Springtown

Just after 11:00pm Tuesday evening, Parker County ESD 1, PCHD EMS, Springtown PD, Parker County SO and DPS responded to a major accident on Highway 199 near Pojo Road west of Springtown.

Initial reports indicate a vehicle struck a pedestrian.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by PCHD EMS. She has been identified as a 68-year-old woman from the Springtown area.

Highway 199 was closed for accident investigation.

We will report additional details when released by Springtown Police Department.

Denton police charge man with Murder after fentanyl overdose

A 31-year-old man has been charged with Murder following a Denton Police Department investigation into a fatal fentanyl overdose.

On January 21, 2024, officers responded to a report of an unconscious person in the 500 block of Inman Street. The male victim, who was later identified as a 26-year-old male, was declared deceased on scene.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his cause of death as combined cocaine and fentanyl toxicity.

Through their investigation, Denton PD detectives learned that the victim had obtained narcotics containing fentanyl from a co-worker, Pedro Martinez. Detectives interviewed Martinez in the Denton County Jail, where he was being held on other charges. Martinez told detectives that he had sold the narcotics to King and that he was aware they contained fentanyl.

On Tuesday, June 18, detectives obtained a warrant for Martinez for the charge of Murder. Martinez is currently in the Denton County Jail, with bail not yet set.

Intoxicated driver kills pedestrian, flees scene and calls 911, Dallas police say

On June 15, 2024, at about 12:30 AM, Dallas Police responded to a call for service in the 2500 block of W. Northwest Highway.

The preliminary investigation determined a driver was northbound in the 1800 block of Storey Lane when they hit a pedestrian and left the scene.

Dallas Fire Rescue responded, and the victim died at the scene.

Further investigation identified the suspect driver as 31-year-old Juan Morgan Munoz. Munoz drove to the 2500 block of W. Northwest Highway and called 911 to report the crash. He was arrested and charged with Felony DWI and Collision Involving Death.

Additional charges are possible.
