The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatality crash that resulted in the death of a driver who investigators believe was fleeing from another wreck he caused minutes earlier.

On Friday, June 14, 2024, at approximately 6:57 p.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of W. Division Street to investigate a two-vehicle wreck.

Witnesses told officers the driver of the vehicle, an adult male, was traveling westbound along Division Street at a high rate of speed, ran a red light at the intersection with N. Davis Drive, began swerving, and ultimately crossed into the eastbound lanes of Division Street where he collided with the bus.

The driver of the vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators were unable to identify him.

The driver of the bus was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was the only occupant of the bus.

Through the course of their investigation, officers learned the vehicle was involved in another wreck that occurred a few minutes earlier in the 600 block of W. Division Street. The driver of a Ford F-150 told officers she was stopped near the traffic light at Division Street and Cooper Street when the driver rear-ended her. She said they both pulled over to exchange information – but as they began talking, she had concerns that he may be intoxicated and told him she was calling the police. At that point, the driver of the vehicle got back in his car and left heading westbound on Division Street. The driver of the F-150 attempted to follow him and pulled up on the other crash site.

Officers did locate alcohol containers inside the vehicle.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased once he has been positively identified and next of kin have been notified.

The Arlington Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting incident that occurred Sunday, June 9, 2024 in the 6500 block of S. Cooper Street.

At approximately 10:34 p.m., officers responded to Red Kane Park to investigate a reported domestic disturbance between a 42-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman who were previously in a relationship.

As officers pulled up to the park and were exiting their patrol vehicles, the man displayed a handgun and fired multiple shots at the woman, striking her. Three officers then immediately fired their service weapons at the man, striking him.

Officers rendered first aid to the man and the woman until paramedics arrived on scene. Both were transported to area hospitals.  

The man was later pronounced deceased from his injuries.

The woman is currently listed in critical condition.

No officers were injured during this incident.

As is standard procedure anytime an officer fires their service weapon, there are currently two investigations taking place:

• a criminal investigation led by the APD Homicide Unit that will review the entire incident and determine if any criminal offenses were committed.
• an administrative investigation led by the APD Internal Affairs Unit that will determine whether officers followed department policies and procedures during the incident.

Per department policy, the officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave.

On Friday, June 7, at 4:14 p.m., Bedford Police responded to the 2400 block of Meadow View Lane in response to a call regarding an unconscious person. Upon arrival, officers located an elderly woman inside her home, who had passed away of unknown causes.

During the investigation, Bedford Police found video surveillance recordings of a thin, light-skinned male wearing a black shirt, black tights, white tennis shoes, and a possible wig approaching the victim’s front door. The woman answered the door and spoke to the unknown suspect, who asked to use her phone. After her refusal, police believe the suspect forced his way into her home.

Unfortunately, the video does not reveal what happened inside the home but does show the suspect leaving several minutes later. Detectives are choosing not to share the images from the surveillance camera at this time for reasons related to the investigation.

Bedford Police reminds residents to be aware of their surroundings and not to open their doors to anyone they don’t know, especially if they are home alone. Officers are a phone call away, should anyone see suspicious activity in their neighborhood.

On June 7, 2024, at about 2:20 am, Dallas Police responded to a hit-and-run fatal pedestrian crash in the 2800 block of W. Northwest Highway.

The preliminary investigation determined an unidentified woman and man crossed W. Northwest Highway, just east of Community Drive, not in a crosswalk. The two had just reached the center median when a white Dodge Challenger east on Northwest Highway, pictured, hit the woman. The suspect driver left the scene without stopping. The woman died at the scene, the man was not injured.  

 The woman’s identity will be confirmed by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office.

 The suspect’s vehicle had no license plates.

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 11:21 p.m. in the 7200 block of Silver City Dr.

Northwest Division officers responded to a shooting call and found an adult male victim with apparent gunshot wounds. The victim did not survive his injuries.

Detectives found that there was a verbal argument between the victim and the suspect over narcotics and then the argument turned physical. An additional person joined the fight to help the victim against the suspect. The suspect pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots striking the victim at least once. The victim and witnesses got into the victim’s vehicle, drove away, and ultimately lost control crashing into a house a short distance from the shooting scene. People were home at the time but no one was injured.

Homicide detectives are interviewing witnesses and the suspect.

No one has been arrested at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
