No injuries after fire destroys church in Pleasant Grove area of Dallas
The Dallas Fire Rescue responded to reports of a fire at the New Light Church, located at 9314 Elam Road, at around 1:30am this morning. When firefighters arrived, they observed fire coming from the roof of the large church.
Firefighters began an interior attack of the fire, but it was already too advanced throughout the structure. A defensive posture was ordered and all firefighters had to exit the building due to extreme conditions.
The church was closed at the time of the fire. Thankfully, no injuries were reported to civilians or fire personnel. The church has sustained significant damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
“Although this is an unfortunate situation, we have continued thanks to our Lord and Savior that no lives were lost. We’re bent but not broken!” a statement on the church’s Facebook page reads.
