Armored vehicle guard robbed, killed in Old East Dallas

On September 1, 2023, at about 9:25 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call in the 100 block of S. Carroll Avenue. 

The preliminary investigation determined a uniformed armored car guard was shot during a robbery at the location. 

The 52-year-old man was taken to a local hospital where he died. 

There is no suspect description at this time, and no suspect is in custody.

The investigation is ongoing with detectives actively working leads.

Motorcyclist traveling at 120+mph seriously hurt in Mansfield crash

Today at approximately 1:15 p.m., a Mansfield police officer initiated a traffic stop on a motorcycle traveling on northbound U.S. 287 Highway at speeds in excess 120 mph.

Shortly after, the motorcycle wrecked out and slid into the median, which caused the motorcycle and operator to fall from the bridge onto Debbie Lane.

The motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for his injuries. He is listed in serious condition.

It was later determined that the motorcycle was stolen out of Irving.

The crash remains under investigation.

Man stabs roommate to death during argument at Carrollton apartment

Just after 4:00am this morning, Carrollton police responded to a stabbing at an apartment complex in the 1100 block of MacArthur Blvd.

Carrollton Police Officers responding to a 911 call were flagged down by two people standing outside an apartment.

One of the roommates was sleeping when the suspect, 20-year-old Pascual Alexander Guachiac Xum, went to his room and told him he had gotten into a fight with another roommate.

Upon arrival, police found the victim deceased in a back bedroom.

The suspect was placed under arrest.

Man fatally stabbed during argument over parking space in Carrollton

At around 10:30pm Thursday night, Carrollton police responded to a stabbing in the 2500 block of Guerrero Drive.

Police responded to a 911 call regarding a disturbance. A friend of the victim told police she pulled up to a parking spot and was attempting to back in, when the suspect, 30-year-old Gerardo Rodriguez, pulled up in front of her and stopped. He got out of the car and began yelling at her.

The victim, who was sitting in the passenger seat, began arguing with the suspect. As the suspect returned to his vehicle, the victim got out of the car. The two continued arguing again when the victim’s friend heard him yell the suspect had a knife before falling to the ground.

Rodriguez drove off but later turned himself in to the Carrollton Police Department.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

North Richland Hills police arrest 18-year-old who brought loaded handgun to football game

An 18-year-old man from Haltom City was arrested yesterday evening and charged with Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds after he brought a loaded weapon to the Birdville Fine Arts Athletics Complex during a football game.

Around 9 p.m., school administration alerted officers that an individual believed to have a weapon had been pointed out to them. NRHPD Officers working off duty, alongside BISD Safety and Security, located the man and began speaking with him. He was detained, and a handgun with an extended magazine was found inside his waistband. The man was arrested and transported to the NRH Joint Detention Facility for booking.

“While it is unlawful to possess this firearm on school grounds, we have not discovered evidence to support any planned act of violence by the man or any other person,” said NRH PD in a statement.

“The NRHPD appreciates the tipsters who alerted officials. This is a reminder to the community that if you see something suspicious, say something. The tip allowed officers to investigate, locate the weapon, and keep those attending the game safe.”

Man found dead in Garland; person of interest, subject of Amber Alert, now in custody

On August 29, just after 10:00 AM, Garland police officers were dispatched to 342 West Oates Road, Audubon Park, about a male subject possibly passed out in a vehicle.

Officers arrived on the scene and determined the male was deceased with an injury indicating he was the victim of a gunshot. Garland detectives responded to the scene and the victim was identified as a 21-year-old of Mesquite. Mr. He had been reported as a missing person to the Dallas Police Department on August 27, 2023.

Garland detectives have identified two persons of interest in the murder. Warrants for Murder have been obtained for both Natalie Navarro (17) and Yordy Martinez (21).

During the investigation, Natalie Navarro became the subject of an Amber Alert issued by the Dallas Police Department on September 1, 2023. Navarro was subsequently located by law enforcement and is currently safe and in custody.

Yordy Martinez is still at large and wanted for Murder.

Suspect arrested after fatally shooting man in West 7th area

At around 1:09am this morning, Fort Worth police officers were patrolling in the West 7th area when they heard multiple gunshots.

As they were investigating the shots, they located an injured man shot multiple times near the 3000 block of Bledsoe Street. MedStar transported the man to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. He has since been identified as a junior at Texas Christian University.

Detectives say the victim was standing near a bar called Your Mom’s House when the suspect approached and shot him multiple times. After the shooting, the suspect ran away on foot, pistol-whipping a woman as he fled.

An arrest warrant for the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Matthew Purdy, indicates there was no real motive for the shooting. Purdy could not provide a clear reason why he had shot the man. The suspect had been on probation for Aggravated Robbery.

Police chased down and arrested Purdy in a parking lot near the shooting scene.

The incident remains under investigation.

Burglar dies after jumping from Uptown Dallas business

At around 6:00am this morning, Dallas police responded to an incident in the 2900 block of Cityplace West Blvd at Oak Grove Avenue in Uptown Dallas.

Police originally responded to a stabbing victim on the ground outside of the building. Detectives have since learned the man was burglarizing a business in the area and jumped from the building, falling to his death.

Paramedics pronounced the man deceased at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
