Search ongoing for missing kayaker on Benbrook Lake

Multiple emergency responders from several agencies are searching for a kayaker reported missing on Benbrook Lake.

They were called to the scene around 7:15pm Sunday evening after an 18-year-old man was last seen in the area. The kayak and other items washed ashore later in the evening.

Benbrook FD/EMS, Cresson VFD, Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Worth PD’s Air-1 Helicopter, and Texas Game Wardens searched throughout the night, but were unable to locate the man.

A search has resumed today, but nothing has been found.

“Despite the search area being quite large and riddled with stumps, as well as high winds and stormy conditions, Wardens are actively working in shifts and will continue searching for the victim.”

15-year-old driver killed in high speed crash in Joshua

The Joshua Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that claimed the life of a 15-year-old juvenile.

On Sunday evening at around 6:30pm, Joshua Police and Fire along with AMR responded to the scene along County Road 909 near Ranchette Drive.

A 15-year-old driver traveling at high speeds lost control of the vehicle, left the road, and hit a tree. The impact caused severe damage to the vehicle. The juvenile driver was trapped inside the wreckage. Joshua firefighters extricated him and assisted AMR with patient care. He was airlifted to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth, where he later died.

A second occupant inside the car was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 15-year-old juvenile was a resident of Joshua. He lived not far from the accident site.

The accident remains under investigation by the Joshua Police Department.

Two people killed in high speed crash along Highway 114 in Irving

The Irving Police Department is investigating a double fatality accident that occurred along westbound Highway 114 in Irving early Sunday morning.

Multiple Irving firefighters and police officers were called to the scene at Highway 114 and Hidden Ridge.

Officials say a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed on westbound Highway 114 when the driver lost control and hit the Hidden Ridge bridge.

Both occupants in the vehicle, identified as a 23-year-old man and 24-year-old woman, were pronounced deceased at the scene.

All lanes of westbound Highway 114 were closed from around 6:00am until lunchtime on Sunday.

Keller police looking for driver who struck, killed man walking with his wife

The Keller Police Department is investigating a fatality hit-and-run crash that occurred Saturday evening along the 1100 block of Johnson Road at Stratton Drive.

Officials say a 58-year-old man and his wife were walking along the south side of Johnson Road at around 6:00pm when a vehicle veered off the road and hit the man.

Keller paramedics transported him to a local hospital, but he was pronounced deceased. His wife was not injured.

After hitting the man, the driver drove off on eastbound Johnson Road and turned south on Keller-Smithfield Road. The vehicle was last seen by witnesses on Keller Parkway.

Police are canvassing the neighborhood and requesting residents in the immediate area to check their Ring doorbells. The vehicle is described as a grey SUV.

16-year-old arrested after causing fatal crash along I-20 in Dallas

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatality accident overnight that occurred along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 near Hampton Road in southern Dallas.

A preliminary investigation of the scene indicates a 16-year-old driver of a small vehicle struck the back left fender of a Ford pickup truck, causing both vehicles to spin out. The pickup truck then overturned into the grassy median.

Immediately following the crash, officials say the 16-year-old fled from the scene, but he was arrested by Dallas police officers a short time later.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified as a 50-year-old female, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Dallas paramedics. Four other passengers in the pickup truck, including an 11-year-old child, were transported to area hospitals in stable condition.

The 16-year-old driver has been charged with Accident Involving Death Failure to Stop and Render Aid.

Teenager shot during fight outside Six Flags in Arlington

The Arlington Police Department responded to multiple reports of a possible active shooter at Six Flags yesterday (Friday) evening at around 8:30pm.

Responding officers determined it was not an active shooter inside the park.

Detectives say a fight broke out between two teenagers near the entrance of the park. During the dispute, one of the teenagers shot the other. The teen’s injuries are described as non-life-threatening.

The teen suspect was arrested. Officers also arrested one other person.

Video from the park shows attendees fleeing after hearing the gunshot.

[UPDATED] Eight people shot, one fatally, after dispute at Dallas nightclub

The Dallas Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person dead and a total of seven people injured.

At around 1:30am this morning, Dallas police officers were called to an active shooter at the PrymeBar Dallas, 10333 Technology Blvd. Dozens of police quickly responded to the scene and located eight people shot.

Dallas paramedics transported all victims to the hospital where one woman was pronounced deceased.

Officials say two groups of people were engaged in a dispute inside the nightclub. One person started firing a weapon during the dispute, and then fled the scene after the shooting.

Dallas PD are still investigating the incident.

UPDATE – Police now say eight (8) people were shot in the incident.

Armed fugitive killed by police during traffic stop in east Arlington

An armed fugitive from Arkansas was shot and killed by an Arlington police officer this evening after a task force tracked him down in the east Arlington area.

Officials with the North Texas Fugitive Task Force tracked down a wanted felon this afternoon as he driving along E. Pioneer Parkway. Patrol officers were called to assist in conducting a traffic stop on his vehicle and take him into custody.

After officers pulled the man over, they approached his vehicle to speak with him. As they approached, the suspect brandished a weapon and pointed it at one of the officers. The officer fired and shot the suspect at least once. Paramedics responded to the scene, but pronounced the suspect deceased.

The suspect has been identified as a man in his 40’s. He was wanted on multiple counts of rape and indecency with a child.

The officer involved, who has been identified only as a 19-year veteran of the force, was not injured.

“It is common practice for outside agencies to contact other law enforcement agencies to help locate and arrest outstanding fugitives who may have fled the original jurisdiction. The North Texas Fugitive Task Force assists outside agencies in these endeavors. Today’s case was an example of a request for assistance from the state of Arkansas in regards to this wanted fugitive.”

Man arrested after stabbing, strangling people following crash in Carrollton

The Carrollton Police Department has arrested a 26-year-old man after he reportedly stabbed two people and strangled a third following a crash along Interstate 35E this evening.

Around 5:00pm this evening, a crash occurred in the express lanes of Interstate 35E near Valwood Drive. Witnesses say the suspect got out of his vehicle and started yelling at the other drivers involved in the crash. He then start assaulting them, causing non-life-threatening stab injuries to two people.

The suspect was also injured in the assault.

All injured persons were transported by Carrollton paramedics to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries, none of which are reported to be life-threatening.

“Detectives ask that anyone who recorded either the crash or the assaults that followed contact them at 972-466-3333.”

Young man killed in motorcycle crash on 75 in Richardson

The Richardson Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred yesterday (Wednesday) evening along Central Expressway near the President George Bush Turnpike.

At around 8:10pm, Richardson Fire Department and Police Department were called to the scene of a crash involving a motorcycle on southbound Central Expressway.

Officials say a 25-year-old motorcyclist was traveling southbound on the highway when he attempted to quickly change multiple lanes. Police say he was in the right lane and was attempting to get all the way to the left lane.

The man lost control of his motorcycle and hit the center median. He fell off the motorcycle and was hit by two vehicles.

Paramedics pronounced the man deceased at the scene. Police say he was from Fairview.

Crash investigators continue their investigation.
