Man seriously hurt after crashing stolen car during police chase

At around 2:33pm this afternoon, Fort Worth PD received an alert of a stolen pickup truck from the area of E. Berry Street and S. Riverside Drive. Officers were dispatched to the area and located the pickup truck. When they attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver took off.

The pursuit went northbound on I35W and eventually eastbound onto North Loop 820. As the driver was attempting to flee from officers, he crashed near the North Loop 820 and Denton Highway interchange.

Firefighters from Haltom City and Watauga responded to the scene for extrication. The suspect was extracted from the vehicle and transported by ambulance to a local trauma center with serious injuries. His condition has not been released.

Lanes of 820 were closed while police and emergency personnel responded to the scene.

Woman shot, killed at Richardson Starbucks

The Richardson Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred earlier this evening at the Starbucks, 4151 E. Renner Road.

At 7:12pm, Richardson police officers responded to a disturbance involving a weapon at the store. A 23-year-old woman was observed firing a handgun at a 52-year-old woman. Witnesses say both women were involved in a dispute which led to the shooting.

Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital, but she was pronounced deceased. Responding officers were able to arrest the suspect at the scene.

Detectives have learned that the suspect and victim knew each other. Officials have not stated why they were fighting.

No one else was injured.

Expect heavy police activity at the Starbucks while police investigate the scene.

Swimmer who drowned at Joe Pool Lake wasn’t wearing a life jacket, officials say

The Grand Prairie Fire Department has released an update regarding the drowning yesterday at Joe Pool Lake.

At around 5:30pm on Sunday evening, multiple emergency responders were dispatched to Lynn Creek Park at Joe Pool Lake for a reported drowning.

9-1-1 reports indicated a man was swimming near beach area when he went under and did not resurface.

Grand Prairie’s Dive Team responded to the area and located the man’s body a few hours later. The Dallas County Medical Examiner took possession of the body.

He was not wearing a life jacket.

“As the lake season approaches, GPFD strongly encourages the public to wear a life vest or an appropriate personal floating device while near the water.”

Man drowns at Lake Ray Hubbard

At 9:53pm on Sunday evening, multiple agencies responded to a water rescue situation on Lake Ray Hubbard. Departments from both Dallas and Rockwall counties responded to the scene.

Dallas Fire Rescue utilized their water rescue boat to locate a group of boaters in distress. They learned two men had jumped into the water, both without life jackets, possibly to investigate why their boat had stalled. One of the men’s bodies surfaced and the second was pulled from the water by bystanders. Rockwall County EMS transported the injured man to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Two women and a dog were rescued from the boat by Dallas Fire Rescue. They were transported safely to shore.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the deceased and will determine cause of death.

We have not heard the condition of the second individual involved in this incident.

As the weather warms up and area lakes / swimming pools become popular places, please wear a life jacket and keep your eyes on the kids at all times.

Woman injured in Haslet shooting

The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred earlier this morning near Haslet.

At around 10:00am this morning, Tarrant County sheriffs deputies were called to a home in the 14000 block of Lapetus Drive. When officers arrived, they located multiple people fighting in the front yard. One woman had been shot during the scuffle.

EMS transported the woman to Texas Health Harris Fort Worth with non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies arrested an adult female at the scene. She was taken to JPS for treatment of minor injuries. Police have charged her with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. A firearm was located and collected as evidence.

Officials have not stated why the individuals were fighting in the first place.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Three people shot, two fatally, at southwest Arlington home

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred overnight at a home in southwest Arlington.

Shortly after midnight, Arlington police were dispatched to shots fired at a residence in the 5300 block of Ivy Hill Drive. When officers arrived, they located three victims. They were all relatives.

An 84-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the house. An 41-year-old man and 67-year-old woman were transported to local hospitals, but the man died a few hours later at Medical City Arlington. The woman did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

Detectives say an unidentified suspect forced entry into the house and began firing shots. No arrests have been made at this time. At this point in the investigation, police believe it was not a random attack.

Two people killed in north Fort Worth crash

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred overnight at the I35W and Highway 287 interchange.

At 2:20am, Fort Worth FD, PD, and MedStar EMS were dispatched to the northbound I35W ramp to northbound 287 for a major accident involving a tow truck.

Emergency personnel arrived to find two people trapped in a passenger vehicle struck by a tow truck hauling a vehicle. Both occupants were pronounced deceased at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released.

The ramp was closed for approximately six hours while police investigated the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Man’s body found in Kessler Park alleyway

The Dallas Police Department has launched a homicide investigation after a body was discovered in an alleyway just blocks from the popular Bishop Arts District.

At around 9:18am Sunday morning, Dallas police were dispatched to 1330 Kings Highway near Taft Street after someone reported a body laying in an alleyway behind a house.

Officers determined the body had also been burned. The Dallas Fire Arson Unit along with DPD’s Crime Scene Unit and Homicide Unit processed the scene for a few hours.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine cause of death.

At the time of his death, the victim was wearing boots, jeans, a dress shirt, and a wedding ring on his left hand, according to Dallas Police.

The motive and circumstances surrounding this murder are under investigation.

Three people shot at Fort Worth convenience store

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred this evening at a convenience store in the 4200 block of Miller Avenue.

Just before 8:30pm this evening, Fort Worth police working on the southeast side of town were dispatched to a shooting at 4225 Miller Avenue. When officers arrived, they located one person with a gunshot wound. He was transported via MedStar EMS to JPS for treatment.

Two additional victims have arrived at area hospitals related to this incident. One victim was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist by his girlfriend. Their conditions have not been released.

No suspects have been arrested. Fort Worth’s Gang Unit will be investigating this incident.

At this time, it is unclear what led to the shooting.

10 people shot during outdoor concert in Dallas

The Dallas Police Department is investigating a mass casualty shooting that occurred late Saturday at an outdoor concert in the 5000 block of Cleveland Road.

At 11:36pm, Dallas police responded to the scene and located multiple individuals who had been shot. Several Dallas Fire Rescue ambulances responded to the scene as well.

Police have confirmed 10 people were shot during the trail ride / concert event, including three juveniles. One person has died from their injuries. All others are receiving medical treatment at Dallas area hospitals.

“Block off Cleveland Road, we got a lot of people running around,” officers reported as they arrived on the scene.

A Dodge Charger was spotted leaving the scene at a high rate of speed northbound on Bonnie View Road. The vehicle did not have headlights on. It was last spotted headed eastbound on the I-20 service road. At this time, it is unclear if this was a possible suspect or a victim fleeing to a hospital.

“There’s thousands of people here,” reported another officer at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing at this time. Details are still being developed and will be released by authorities in the near future.
